The Karnataka Lokayukta Police on Tuesday (December 23, 2025) conducted searches at multiple locations linked to senior officer Sardar Sarfaraz Khan, who holds the post of Director in the Audit Department of Co-operative Societies. He is also Secretary of the Department of Minority Welfare and Wakf, which is headed by B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan.

The raid followed the allegations that Mr. Khan possessed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to a statement released by Lokayukta Police, the officials unearthed movable and immovable assets worth ₹14.38 crore during searches at 13 properties linked to Mr. Khan. The immovable properties include four residential houses and 37 acres of agricultural land, collectively valued at ₹8.44 crore.

Movable assets found during the operation include cash amounting to ₹66,500, gold ornaments valued at ₹2.99 crore, vehicles worth ₹1.64 crore, and other valuables estimated at ₹1.29 crore. The total value of movable assets is pegged at ₹5.93 crore.

Mr. Khan’s name had also popped up in the first half of this year when a purported call recording between him and B.R. Patil went viral. In the recording, the MLA informs Mr. Khan about the large-scale corruption in the distribution of houses under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Ltd and is heard alleging that houses were allotted in exchange for bribes.
