Teachers command respect in society because of their simplicity, and the future of students rests on their hard work, said Legislative Council member and NPS Institution president Shashil G. Namoshi.

He was speaking after inaugurating a one-day refresher workshop for history and Kannada lecturers at NPS PU College in Kalaburagi on Saturday. The programme was jointly organised by the Department of School Education (PUC Division), Karnataka State PU College Principals’ Association, and NPS PU College managed by P.S. Mr. Namoshi said that the second year PU stage is crucial in a student’s life, as it shapes their higher studies and career. “Despite the sincere efforts of teachers, PU results in Kalyana Karnataka have not improved as expected. Basavaraj Biradar, president of the Principals’ Association, said that lecturers in the region were striving hard to improve results, while Deputy Director of PU Education Suresh Akkanna maintained that Kalaburagi district, which ranked 31st this year, has set a target to reach 13th place in the coming results. He urged teachers to treat students as their own children and work for their overall development.

B.S. Malipatil, State Working President, Unaided PU Colleges’ Association, commended I.K. Patil for meticulously organising the refresher workshop within a short time. He highlighted the efforts of Mr. Namoshi for the improvement of educational scenario in the region.

Resource persons R.C. Hiremath, lecturer at the Government PU College for Girls, Vijayapura, and Tausif Kalmani of SUSJ College, Kubihal, Kundgol taluk, were felicitated on the occasion.
