The final electoral roll in Tamil Nadu will be published on February 23, following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik said on Sunday (February 15, 2026).

Following an order of the Supreme Court of India, the Election Commission of India (ECI), on January 30 said that they had instructed that the list of the names of the persons figuring in the category of “logical discrepancies” shall be displayed at the gram panchayat bhawans, public places and Taluka/Sub-Division, including the ward offices in urban areas.

The Commission had also instructed that the persons likely to be affected under the category of logical discrepancies were permitted to submit their documents/objections in-person or through their authorised representative, which may include BLAs, within 10 days from the date of displaying the list of persons falling in the category of logical discrepancy, along with the brief reason of discrepancy.

“Accordingly, the lists were put up and objections were invited for the next 10 days as mandated by the Supreme Court of India and the concerned persons were permitted to submit their documents/objections and now the final publication of the electoral roll in respect of the SIR with regard to January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date is on February 23, 2026,” the release said.
