The Tamil Nadu government has accorded administrative sanction for ‘Vetri 150’, a scheme to provide an additional 25 days of employment to registered vulnerable rural households that complete the 125 days of guaranteed employment under the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G), using State funds.

The State government has also accorded financial sanction of ₹100 crore for implementing the scheme in 2026-27. Enhancing the minimum guaranteed employment to 150 days for rural households was part of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) manifesto for the 2026 Assembly election. The ‘Vetri 150’ initiative was announced during the presentation of the TVK-led government’s maiden Budget on August 5, 2026.

Under VB-G RAM G, every registered rural household willing to undertake unskilled manual work is guaranteed employment for 125 days in a financial year. The scheme is funded by the Union and State governments in a 60:40 ratio.

Under the Tamil Nadu government’s ‘Vetri 150’ scheme, households headed by women, single-woman households, households with persons with disabilities, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe households, and beneficiaries covered under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006, have been classified as vulnerable households.

According to a Government Order issued by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, these households will be provided an additional 25 days of employment upon completing the 125 days of employment under VB-G RAM G.
