A lone Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party cadre staged a protest near Lok Bhavan in Chennai on Friday (May 8, 2026), demanding that Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar invite party leader C. Joseph Vijay to form the government in the State without any delay.

Police sources said around 11 am, a man came with a placard in an auto and got down at a distance from the main gate of the Lok Bhavan. Media persons who were standing near Lok Bhavan surrounded him immediately and the police quickly apprehended him. Police identified the man as Suresh, an assistant of film director S.A. Chandrasekar, father of Mr. Vijay.

Police sent him away after warning that he should not indulge in any protest near Lok Bhavan since it is a prohibited area and he could stage any protest only after obtaining permission.
