Actor C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is inching closer towards forming the next government in Tamil Nadu with the CPI and CPI(M), which have two Assembly seats each, deciding to extend support to his party on Friday (May 8, 2026) evening.

Sources said the decision to offer support to TVK was taken following internal consultation in both parties. It is expected that the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), which has two seats, also could offer its support to the TVK this evening.

The TVK, with 108 seats, had already secured the support of the five members of the Congress.

The CPI(M) and the CPI sent letter to Governor offering unconditional support. Both the Left parties have sent to the TVK, their respective letters of support. CPI letter says unconditional support.
