Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) candidate for Salem (North) constituency, M. Gunaseela, who secured 6,450 votes in the recently concluded Assembly election, has announced that 6,450 saplings will be planted as a gesture of gratitude to voters.

She said the saplings would be planted in the Mookaneri area at Kannankurichi and along the lake, with the initiative aimed at increasing green cover and promoting environmental conservation. She said the planting would be carried out in phases and arrangements would be made for maintenance to ensure the saplings’ growth. Party functionaries and volunteers would take part in the drive, she added.

In the constituency, K. Sivakumar of TVK won the seat, while R. Rajendran of the DMK lost by a margin of 14,034 votes. S. Sadhasivam of the PMK secured the third position with 44,238 votes. Ms. Gunaseela polled 6,450 votes and lost by a margin of 79,260 votes.
