A 19-year-old student sustained grievous injuries in a road accident near Nizampet X roads in the early hours of Friday. The victim, identified as Sangwar Aditya, is said to be in critical condition, and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Kukatpally.
The incident was reported around 4.30 a.m. when Aditya was returning from a birthday party in Nizampet along with his friend, Sravan Kumar, who was driving the car bearing registration number ‘TS 08 HP 2526’.
Police sources reported that the driver, who had consumed alcohol during the party, was allegedly speeding and driving recklessly when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the railing in front of the bus stop near Nizampet X roads.
Aditya, who was seated in the front passenger seat, suffered a severe head injury. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital, where he under observation in the ICU and is expected to undergo surgery.
Following a complaint by Aditya’s brother Sangwar Varma, the KPHB police booked a case and initiated a probe.
