The entry of Leemarose Martin, wife of lottery baron Santiago Martin, who is testing electoral battle on the AIADMK ticket, has made the Lalgudi constituency as one of the keenly watched constituencies in the State.

Ever since the AIADMK nominated Ms. Leemarose, who was born in Devakottai, the cadres have been canvassing votes for her by visiting each and every village in the constituency. The reception that she receives in villages has enthused the workers of the AIADMK, which has not won the seat since 2006. They work overtime to secure victory for Ms. Rose, the wealthiest candidate in the Assembly elections.
