Tamil Nadu Assembly election: Total value of election-related seizures in Villupuram district reach ₹66.77 lakh

Personnel of the Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams seized cash, liquor, drugs and narcotic substances amounting to ₹66,77,963 without valid documents at various places in the seven Assembly constituencies in Villupuram district as on April 1.

The Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams were constituted in each Assembly constituency from the time the Model Code of Conduct came into effect after the Election Commission of India announced the date of the Assembly election for Tamil Nadu.

While conducting vehicle checks, the teams had been seizing cash found carried without valid documents at various places in the seven constituencies. Cash, liquor and drugs amounting to ₹66,77,963 was seized by the Flying Squads while the total amount confiscated by the Police was ₹15,70,484

An official release said the seized amount released by officials till March 31 was ₹42,70,620.
