Public representatives of SPSR Nellore district have appealed to the government to develop infrastructure in the northern Nellore constituencies, in tune with the industrial facilities that are set to come up soon.
The Dagadarthi airport, for which land acquisition has been completed, is waiting in the wings to take off, being at the tender stage. After the momentum of its initial stages, the project is learnt to have moved at a sluggish pace in recent months.
Taking note of this, Rajya Sabha member Beedha Mastan Rao Yadav, besides Members of Parliament Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy (Nellore) and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy (Ongole), raised the issue with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during his recent New Delhi visit.
Mr. Naidu is learnt to have assured them that he would take up the Dagadarthi airport issue after the formal inauguration of the Bhogapuram airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled for August 1.

Mr. Yadav has also appealed to the Centre to modernise Kavali railway station, which is under the NSG-4 category of the railways, by getting it included among the stations to be developed under the Amrit Bharat project.
The station, with an annual footfall of 20 lakh passengers, generated ₹13.41 crore in 2024-25 by handling 10.83 lakh commuters. “The station’s development is crucial in view of the upcoming big-ticket projects like the Dagadarthi airport, Ramayapatnam port and BPCL’s integrated refinery project, with an estimated investment of more than ₹1 lakh crore,” said Mr. Yadav, who submitted a representation recently to Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The Rajya Sabha member also sought halts at Kavali for the Sabari Express, Howrah-SMVT Bengaluru Express, Howrah-Chennai Mail and Chennai-New Delhi Grand Trunk Express, saying the move would benefit daily travellers, including small traders, employees, women and students.
