T.N. CM Stalin inaugurates expanded Okkiyam Maduvu bridge

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday (January 22, 2026) virtually inaugurated the expanded Okkiyam Maduvu bridge on Rajiv Gandhi Salai constructed by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) at a cost of ₹60 crore. It would help in improving the flow of the waterway and connectivity in the Pallikaranai marsh area.

Mr. Stalin also virtually unveiled the foundation for the construction of an integrated building to house a multi-modal facility at the Mandaveli bus terminal and depot at a total cost of ₹167.09 crore. The facility connecting the Metro network and the bus terminus would be spread over 6,625 sq.m. and would have a built-up area of 29,385 sq. m.

The construction of the project by the Chennai Metro Asset Management Limited is expected to be completed in two years. Minister S.S. Sivasankar, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, and senior officials participated.
