DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakant and party’s youth wing secretary V. Vijayaprabakaran will contest from Vriddhachalam and Virudhunagar Assembly constituencies respectively.

A party release on Saturday said Ms. Premallatha was looking to win the constituency from which her husband and DMDK founder Vijayakant was first elected to the Assembly in 2006.

Mr. Vijayaprabakaran will seek to turn his fortunes around in Virudhunagar in 2026 after he fought and lost a close contest in Virudhunagar Parliamentary constituency by a margin of 4,379. He had polled 52,855 votes in the Virudhunagar Assembly segment alone.

The party was allotted 10 Assembly constituencies and a Rajya Sabha seat by the DMK. The party’s treasurer L.K. Sudhish was elected as a Rajya Sabha Member recently.

The party has fielded V. Elangovan from Dharmapuri, former MLA Azhagapuram R. Mohanraj from Salem West, A.R. Ilangovan from Omalur. Former MLA L. Venkatesan has been fielded against AIADMK’s heavy weight C.Ve. Shanmugam in Mailam constituency. D. Murugesan will contest in Pallavaram, D. Krishnamoorthy from Tiruttani, and K.B. Prathap has been fielded from Gudiyatham (Reserved). T.P. Saravanan has been fielded in Polur.
