Suvendu Adhikari to chair first Cabinet meeting on May 11, 2026

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will hold his first cabinet meeting on Monday (May 11, 2026) at Nabanna, the administrative headquarters of the State.

On Monday (May 11), Mr. Adhikari will enter Nabanna for the first time as the Chief Minister. In the first cabinet meeting, portfolios will be allocated to five Ministers who took the oath with the CM on Saturday (May 9). The cabinet is likely to establish inquiry commissions into atrocities against women during the Trinamool Congress regime.

The newly elected Chief Minister will also hold three administrative meetings in Nabanna on Monday (May 11). He will meet top officials of the state administration. After this, he is likely to meet with District Magistrates in the afternoon. He will also meet top officials of the State police. According to sources, the meeting will be attended by the Director General of West Bengal police, the Commissioner of Police of Kolkata and other high-ranking officials of various zones in the State. On Sunday (May 10), Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nand and Howrah Police Commissioner Akhilesh Chaturvedi visited Nabanna and took stock of the security arrangements.

Task is to rebuild Bengal

Mr. Adhikari had said that his task is to rebuild West Bengal.“West Bengal has suffered a lot. Culture has been destroyed. Education has been lost. We will rebuild West Bengal. There are many responsibilities,” he had said after taking the oath.

On Saturday (May 9), retired IAS officer Subrata Gupta, who was appointed Special Roll Observer by the Election Commission during the West Bengal elections, was named as an advisor to the CM. Shantanu Bala (IAS) ADM, of South 24 Parganas, has been appointed as private secretary to the CM. On Sunday (May 10), the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms issued a notification ordering the transfer of 10 bureaucrats of whom nine are being moved to the Chief Minister’s Office. Among the officers transferred to the CMO is Surjit Roy, Returning Officer of Bhabanipur Assembly seat where Mr. Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee by 15,115 votes.
