Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers seized nearly two kilograms of suspected synthetic drugs valued at approximately ₹1.58 crore from a passenger who arrived at Calicut International Airport, Karipur, on Saturday (April 18, 2026).

Acting on a tip-off, the DRI arrested Haris, 40, a resident of Perinthalmanna, who had arrived from Muscat on an Oman Air flight. A police officer attached to the Karipur police station was also taken into custody in connection with the case.

Officials said that the substance seized belonged to the MDMA category of synthetic drugs. The drugs had been concealed inside chocolate wrappers.
