The Supreme Court of India on Thursday (April 30, 2026) directed petitioner NGO, Kuki Organisation for Human Rights, to hand over the ‘first generation copy’ of the full leaked audio tapes that allegedly implicate the former Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, in orchestrating or inciting ethnic violence in the State during the 2023–2024 conflict to the national forensic lab.

The forensic reports have so far returned inconclusive about the authenticity of the tapes.
