The schoolchildren’s dance performances to popular Kannada movie songs that highlight the spirit of Karnataka and Kannada language marked the Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations in Shivamogga.

The students of DVS School, Adichunchanagiri School, and Mahavira Vidyalaya staged a dance performance at Nehru Stadium in the city, where Shivamogga district administration organised the programme to mark the 70th Karnataka Rajyotsava.

The public, parents, elected representatives, and officers appreciated the performances of the students. Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde and others distributed the prizes to schoolchildren.

In the absence of School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa, Deputy Commissioner Hegde hoisted the national flag. In his address, he recalled the contributions of noted personalities who contributed to the formation of Karnataka State.

Further, he stressed the need to retain Karnataka as a beautiful garden for all religions. Elected representatives and officers were present.
