Congress sees BJP leader’s bid to trigger polarisation

Amid a controversial statement of BJP MP from Aligarh, Satish Gautam, that Muslims were taking the most advantage of welfare schemes, the Congress on Monday alleged that the BJP MP was using venomous language to stroke polarisation. “What is this; from morning 4 a.m., they make noise at a time the examination of students are on; highest advantage of welfare schemes is being taken by Muslims,” Mr. Gautam could be heard saying in a viral video.

“Amid claims of development, the BJP’s true ‘communal’ face is exposed. On one hand, the Prime Minister preaches ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, and on the other, his MPs are openly using vile and violent language against a particular community. The fact is that government schemes are not a charity for any party, but a right of every taxpaying citizen of the country. The BJP leader is using such a language to stroke polarisation at a time the acceptance of the BJP is at the lowest,” said Congress leader Shahnawaz Alam.
