The scientific biomining operations to completely clear the century-old legacy waste mound at Njeliyanparamba, which has long been an environmental concern for residents of Kozhikode, are making progress.

According to officials of the Kerala Solid Waste Management Project (KSWMP), once the waste is cleared and the land is reclaimed, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will set up a compressed biogas (CBG) plant at the site. Seven acres of land will be handed over for this purpose, with the first three acres scheduled to be transferred by the end of May.
