The State government has issued orders sanctioning the arrears on the dearness allowance (DA) of government employees and teachers with retrospective effect. Service pensioners also will receive the arrears on dearness relief (DR). Teachers under the University Grants Commission, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as well as Medical Education also will be eligible for the arrears. It is understood that the arrears will be issued in eight instalments and merged with the provident fund from the next fiscal. Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal had announced in the 2026-27 State budget that the government would take steps to disburse the DA/DR arrears. In February and March, the Finance Department had sanctioned 13% DA and DR.
