Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asserted that the State government is working to develop Hyderabad as a hub for the global film industry, and is confident of bringing Hollywood to Hyderabad if the industry stakeholders extend cooperation.

In addition to IT and pharma industries, a separate chapter is dedicated to explaining the roadmap to the film industry in the Telangana Rising 2047 vision, he said, speaking at a meeting organised by the Telugu Film Workers’ Associations on Tuesday to felicitate him.

He recalled the efforts of former Chief Minister Marri Channa Reddy in bringing Telugu film industry to Hyderabad and said the then government took several steps in consultation with doyens like ANR, NTR and Krishna in this direction.

Film workers were given 10-acre land in Manikonda, while a huge effort went into the development of Chitrapuri Colony exclusively for them. He said the government revived awards to the film industry through Gaddar film awards in place of Nandi awards. Mr. Reddy asked the association to identify suitable land in Krishna Nagar, assuring that the government would construct a corporate-level school from Nursery to XII standard for their children. In addition, the government would extend medicare to their families through Aarogyasri.

He advised them to set up a welfare fund assuring that the government would contribute ₹10 crore to it. The Chief Minister was firm that workers should be given 20% share in the profits earned by the films. “The government will allow hike in ticket rates only if the makers agree to contribute 20% of the additional revenue to the welfare fund,” he said.
