St. Philomena’s College to celebrate its Oak Jubilee on October 9

The St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Bannimantap, Mysuru, will be celebrating its Oak Jubilee, marking 80 years of its journey on Friday.

Established on October 9, 1946, the institution has completed eight blessed decades of dedicated service to the cause of higher education and the formation of generations of students, said a statement issued by the college authorities.

“The Oak Jubilee Celebration will be held with a Eucharistic Celebration at 10:30 am, in the college indoor stadium, followed by the Valediction at 5:30 p.m., in the outdoor stadium,” the statement said.

Bishop of Mysuru Francis Serrao will preside over the Eucharistic Celebration, which will also be attended by Bishop Emeritus, Diocese of Mysuru, Thomas Antony Vazhapilly, Bishop of Mandya Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath, Bishop of Salem Arulselvam Rayappan and Bishop of Belthangady Mar James Patteril.

Chairman of Karnataka Christian Community Development Corporation, Government of Karnataka, Prof. S. Japhet, who is also the former Vice Chancellor of Bangalore City University, will be the chief guest.

“The Oak Jubilee is a significant milestone in the history of the institution and an occasion to give thanks to Almighty God for His grace and guidance throughout these eight decades. The celebration will bring together the management, clergy, staff, students, alumni and well-wishers to honour the rich legacy of the institution,” the statement added.
