Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple Trust Board chairman Pothugunta Ramesh Naidu and Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao have said that the temple management will organise various programmes at the temple on May 11 (Monday) on the occasion of ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’.

The Chairman and EO said the Union Ministry of Culture is organising programmes across the country under the banner ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’ to mark 1,000 years since the attack on the Somnath temple and 75 years since its reconstruction. In accordance with the directions issued by the Endowments Department, these programmes will also be conducted at the Srisailam Devasthanam on May 11.

As part of the celebrations, a ‘Kalasa Yatra’ (sacred pot procession) will be taken out from the Gangadhara Mandapam at 7 a.m. on May 11. The procession will pass through the Nandi Mandapam and Mallikarjuna Sadan, proceed to the Bayalu Veerabhadra Swamy temple, and return to the Gangadhara Mandapam.

Booklets for writing the ‘Panchakshari Mantra’ will be distributed to devotees. A stage will also be set up at the Gangadhara Mandapam where national-level programmes will be screened on an LED screen from 10 a.m.

In the evening from 5.30 p.m., ‘Siva Bhajans’ and devotional music programmes will be conducted at the stage set up near the Gangadhara Mandapam. At 6.30 p.m., a spiritual discourse on the significance of ‘Omkaram’ will be delivered, followed by chanting of the ‘Omkara Mantra’.

A performance of ‘Perini Sivathandavam’ dance will also be held from 7.30 p.m., Mr. Ramesh Naidu and Mr. Srinivasa Rao said, while urging devotees to participate in the programmes and make them a grand success.
