The police will organise Smrithi Parade on October 21 and pay tributes to the personnel who died in line of duty, at the APSP 6th battalion at Mangalagiri, according to Director-General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta.

“The Police will recall the services of the slain police officers, visit their houses and enquire about the welfare of their families, organise ‘open house’ programmes, conduct essay- writing and elocution competitions for students and organise medical camps from October 21 to 30,” he said in a release on Saturday.

Photographs of the police personnel who had laid down their lives in maintaining law and order, controlling anti-social elements, and fighting against extremists in the last one year would be displayed during the Commemoration Day parade, the DGP said.

Officers would visit schools and colleges, explain the duties of the police and organise seminars. Police band shows would also be organised in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and other cities, Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta said.

Mock drills, candlelight rallies, and marathons would also be organised during the period, he said.
