At least six students suffered minor injuries, and 24 others had a miraculous escape after a private school bus in which they were travelling, fell into an irrigation canal near Taparru village of Peravali Mandal in East Godavari district on Tuesday. At least 30 students were on their way to school when the incident occurred.
In an official statement, Minister for Tourism and Culture Kandula Durgesh said that the injured students were admitted to the hospital and are now out of danger. Mr. Durgesh has ordered an inquiry into the incident and directed the Road Transport Department and Education Department authorities to submit a report.
