Six bodies were found floating in the Bhutnal lake near Vijaypura city, on Wednesday (August 28, 2026). Villagers noticed the bodies and alerted the police.

The bodies include those of four women and two boys. They are yet to be identified.

Police who rushed to the spot said the exact cause of the deaths was not known. They suspect they must have slipped into the water body while visiting it.

Fire and emergency service personnel are taking out the bodies. Villagers said they found the bodies floating along the edge of the lake. DySP S. Nagaraj, sub inspector Sitaram Lamani and staff are at the spot.

The DySP said additional information would be known after police investigation and postmortem.
