The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls should be made mandatory across the country, especially in Kerala, Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the banyan tree chat organised as part of the election campaign of National Democratic Alliance candidate K.S. Rajesh in Division 27 of the Kochi Corporation at Puthukalavattom in Elamakkara on Thursday.

Mr. Gopi said SIR was essential for the sanctity of future elections. Everyone should cast vote for the country and not based on politics. Otherwise, the democratic system will fall into disarray. The ability to do informed voting should be developed among youngsters and passed on to future generations.
