To help prepare the BJP and JD(S) leaders to effectively counter the resistance to the VB-G RAM G Act, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is arriving in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Mr. Chouhan, who has been spearheading awareness drives on the new job guarantee scheme, is set to hold a orientation session for the legislators, MPs, and prominent leaders of the BJP and the JD(S) ahead of the legislature session convened by the Congress government to debate the new scheme.

Sources in the BJP said that the party State leadership had requested the Centre to depute Mr. Chouhan to Karnataka to provide orientation to the Opposition members.

The Congress government has launched a campaign against the Centre on the new version of the job scheme. The BJP State unit is in the process of launching a Statewide drive in defence of the new law later this month.
