Shivamogga Lok Sabha member B.Y. Raghavendra has termed the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman a “landmark Budget” that will transform the aspiration of 1.4 billion people into a reality of Viksit Bharat.

Union Budget 2026 highlights

In his response to the budget, Mr. Raghavendra said that it was not merely a budget, but a decisive roadmap for Viksit Bharat. Despite the complexities of the global economy, the budget ensures that India remains the world’s fastest-growing major economy. I am particularly heartened by the focus on farmers. The Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj Yojana will revolutionise the rural and agrarian landscape. The special support schemes announced for coconut and cashew growers provide much-needed stability for our farmers,” he said.

He also appreciated the allocation of ₹5.98 lakh crore for the transport sector. “I welcome the announcement of seven high-speed rail corridors, including the two Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Chennai-Bengaluru. These projects transform Karnataka’s economic map, creating jobs and fostering seamless trade,” he opined.

Vijayendra’s reaction

BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra, who watched the Budget presentation at the BJP’s district office in Shivamogga on Sunday, said that the Finance Minister had presented a very good budget in the tough times of global conflict.

“There are many developments in the US that could impact the economy. There is a war between Russia and Ukraine, as well as a conflict between Israel and Palestine. Considering these issues, the Finance Minister has presented a good budget. India is becoming the fourth-largest economic power in the world. The budget is based on the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,’ he added.
