IIT Hyderabad Director Prof. B. S. Murty, and Jayanth Challa, president of American Telugu Association (ATA) sign an MoU for academic collaboration in Washington DC., USA.

Bringing the Indian-origin students close to their roots, the American Telugu Association (ATA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) where the latter will provide internships to the students from the United States.

The MoU was signed by B. S. Murty, Director of IIT-H, and Jayanth Challa, President of ATA in Washington DC. The agreement establishes a framework for internships ranging from few weeks to one year at IIT Hyderabad, with a validity period of three years and the potential for extension.

“This will also pave the way for research collaboration and improving the U.S. India people-to-people collaboration,” said Bhanu Swargam of ATA. The IIT Hyderabad is ranked 7 in Engineering and 6 in innovation in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of India.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with ATA, which aligns with our ongoing efforts to nurture global talent and foster meaningful research exposure. This is the first time IIT-H is signing an agreement outside of academic institution,” said Mr. Murty. “This MoU strengthens the bridge between ATA and IIT-H, opening up exciting career-building opportunities for students from the Telugu diaspora.”

Mr. Jayanth said the partnership would empower Telugu diaspora with valuable experience and insight into the fast-evolving world of technology and research.

He said IIT-H will offer internship opportunities to students from the U.S., providing the necessary institutional, logistical, and infrastructural support while the ATA will assist in identifying eligible students for the programme. IIT-H will charge a nominal fee per student per month to cover other operational costs.
