Sri Sathya Sai district police deployed Shakthi teams to organise a series of awareness campaigns across the district to sensitise women, children, and the public about safety, legal rights, and crime prevention.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar said the initiatives were organised as part of efforts to strengthen community awareness on issues affecting women and children. He said that police personnel at all mandal and village levels were instructed to prioritise regular interaction with the community groups and hold awareness camps in their jurisdictions on various laws and protective measures available for vulnerable sections of society.

The SP said Shakthi teams would highlight crimes against children, the harmful consequences of child marriages, provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, missing children cases and incidents of chain snatching. The target groups would also be sensitised to the dangers posed by ganja and other narcotic substances. Mr. Satish Kumar stressed the need for vigilance and early reporting of suspicious activities.

The SP said the Shakthi teams had primarily focused on educating the public on emergency response services, including Dial 100 and 112, women’s helpline 181, cybercrime helpline 1930 and child helpline 1098.

Special emphasis was also placed on the Shakthi App, a safety application for women. The police teams would assist in downloading the app and guide users on its features and practical use. The SP appealed to the public to cooperate in maintaining law and order and ensuring safer communities.
