In a sustained enforcement drive against drunk driving, seven motorists have been sentenced to imprisonment following court proceedings initiated by the Hyderabad traffic police. Over the past three weeks, 30 individuals held for driving under the influence of alcohol were produced before the court for judicial examination.

After hearing the cases, the court sentenced one respondent to 15 days of imprisonment, four respondents to seven days each, one respondent to four days, and another respondent to two days. In total, seven offenders were awarded jail terms, while the remaining respondents were imposed fines and directed to undertake social service.

The action forms part of citywide drunk and drive enforcement drives being conducted on a round-the-clock basis. Traffic police officials said stringent legal action is being taken against persons found driving under the influence of alcohol.

Authorities reiterated their appeal to the public not to drink and drive, warning that such behaviour poses a serious risk to life and road safety. Citizens have been urged to strictly comply with traffic rules and regulations to ensure their own safety as well as that of other road users.
