In a day-long intensive ticket checking drive in anticipation of huge rush with the rail passengers travelling to their respective destinations in the view of Diwali and Chhath festival, the SCR has earned highest-ever single day earnings of ₹1.08 crore from 16,105 cases pertaining to ticketless travel or irregular travel from defaulters on Monday.

The drive was conducted across all the six divisions of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded under the supervision of principal chief commercial manager Ity Pandey. The average ticket checking revenue of the zone in a single day is around ₹47 lakh with about 9,500 cases , and it is for the first time that the ticket checking revenue has crossed one crore rupees as the previous best was ₹92.40 lakh generated on Oct. 6.

Vijayawada division has contributed the highest ticket checking revenue of ₹36.91 lakh, followed by Guntakal division with ₹28 lakh, Secunderabad division with ₹27.9 lakh, Guntur division with ₹6.46 lakh, Hyderabad division with ₹4.6 lakh, and Nanded division with ₹4.08 lakh.

The main objective of this ticket checking drive is to curtail any inconvenience to the bonafide passengers and to curb ticketless and regular travel in reserved and unreserved coaches of passenger & express trains, besides creating awareness among people about the travel with valid ticket or travelling authority.

Meanwhile, the SCR has also urged passengers not to carry inflammable/explosive or fire crackers in the trains as it is a punishable offence with a fine of up to ₹1,000 or three years of imprisonment or both.

An official spokesperson informed that carrying such items in trains or at stations poses grave risk to safety and it creates a highly unsafe situation for all the passengers around. Passengers have also been requested to inform the nearest railway staff or call on security helpline ‘139’ if they notice any suspicious, dangerous or inflammable material in trains or at stations.
