The Supreme Court on Monday (April 6, 2026) directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to inquire into allegations that Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s family was awarded contracts worth ₹1,270 crore over 10 years from January 2015 to December 2025.
The Supreme Court’s verdict came in response to a PIL filed by NGOs Voluntary Arunachal Sena and Save Mon Region Federation. The petitioners have alleged corruption, nepotism and dispensing with open tenders.
In its judgment, the Supreme Court said the inquiry should be conducted fairly into whether the allegations are substantiated and not to prejudice anyone. The CBI has been directed to submit a status report in 16 weeks.
