Sri Sathya Sai district police have issued a stern warning against cricket betting, stating that stringent legal action will be taken against organisers and participants.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday (March 29), Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar said surveillance has been intensified across the district to curb betting networks.

With the ongoing IPL season, the SP advised youth and the public to stay away from betting activities. He said cases will be registered not only against those conducting betting but also against individuals who promote it.

The SP cautioned that those turning cricket into a form of gambling and exploiting innocent people will face firm action. He urged youngsters not to fall into the trap of betting, which can disrupt families and lead to serious consequences.

Parents were advised to closely monitor their children’s behaviour. Police teams are maintaining constant vigil on betting gangs, Mr. Satish Kumar said.

Calling betting an addiction rather than entertainment, the SP appealed to the public to report any such activities by dialling 100 or 112, or informing local police. He assured that the informants’ identities would be kept confidential.
