The Ernakulam Central police have registered a case against Hindu Aikya Vedi leader K.P. Sasikala and unidentified supporters of the Congress and the BJP for allegedly circulating a video of a lawyer and her friends, claiming it to be of a group of teachers arrested in a drug case recently.

The case was registered on a complaint filed by lawyer and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) district vice-president Maneesha Radhakrishnan.

According to the first information report, the accused circulated a video of the complainant and her friends, captioning it “MDMA comrades” and with provocative remarks. The case was registered under Section 192 of the Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause a riot).

CPI(M) district secretary S. Sathish condemned the alleged cyber attack, terming it an attempt to target women in public life. The All India Lawyers Union Ernakulam district committee also demanded that the police take immediate steps to identify and arrest the accused.
