A sudden increase in vehicular movement on inter-district and inter-State border roads has prompted the police of Sri Sathya Sai district to implement an action plan for traffic management ahead of the Sankranti festival as people head to their hometowns.

To ensure public safety, smooth traffic flow and effective maintenance of law and order, the district police have intensified security arrangements across all border police stations.

The police have deployed drone surveillance in sensitive border areas to maintain a constant watch on traffic density, regulate movement, and detect violations in real-time. Additional police personnel have been stationed at key locations, check posts and accident-prone stretches, while continuous monitoring is being carried out to enable swift response to any emergency or unforeseen incident.

Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar said that special traffic regulation centres have been set up at toll plazas to ease congestion, and focused measures are in place at high-density traffic points along National Highways. He appealed to travellers to cooperate with authorities, strictly follow traffic rules and avoid overspeeding or driving under the influence of alcohol.

Giving top priority to road safety, the SP reiterated the need for wearing helmets and seat belts, obeying traffic signals, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, cautious overtaking, ensuring proper use of headlights at night, and being considerate towards pedestrians and two-wheeler riders.
