One hundred libraries will be established across Kerala under the Samskara Sahithi, the cultural wing of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Samskara Sahithi chairman C.R. Mahesh, MLA, has said.
The first library, named Prem Nazir Sahithi, will be inaugurated at Sasthamcotta in Kollam on November 14. Around a thousand books have been collected for this library, Mr. Mahesh said.
He said that for now, the libraries would operate in rented buildings. With the approval of the State Library Council, three cents of land will be purchased for each library. The libraries will be named after eminent personalities.
Mr. Mahesh said a drama festival would be organised at Bharat Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram, on October 18, to introduce younger generations to stage plays. The winning play will be awarded a prize of ₹55,555, he added.
