Salem West MLA R. Arul, who owes allegiance to Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss, on Friday (December 26, 2025) lodged a complaint with the Salem Police Commissionerate against Anbumani Ramadoss, who heads another faction of the party. This followed a complaint lodged by the Anbumani faction against the proposed general council and executive committee meeting of the party to be convened by Dr. Ramadoss in Salem on Monday (December 29, 2025).

The Anbumani faction’s complaint claimed that he was the president of the PMK and that others should not use the party’s flag and name. It urged the police to refuse permission for Dr. Ramadoss’ meeting.

However, Mr Arul, in the counter complaint, contended that the Delhi High Court on December 6 said that Dr. Anbumani was not the president of the PMK. “Dr. Anbumani was expelled from the party on September 11, 2025. So, he has no connection with the party and could not claim the party. According to the PMK bylaws, Dr. Ramadoss alone can conduct the general council and executive meeting,” he said, seeking action against Dr. Anbumani and his supporters.
