Sabu M. Jacob’s entry into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has made it clear to everyone that he has been a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) agent all along, Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Ernakulam district secretary S. Sathish has said.

In a statement issued here, he challenged the Congress, which, he alleged, governed the Vadavucode-Puthencruz panchayat with the support of Twenty20, to clarify its position in the wake of the latest development.

Mr. Sathish said the local body elections had exposed Twenty20. Instead of registering major gains in the district, as they claimed, they suffered a serious setback. People realised lack of development wherever they came to power, he said.

Twenty20’s decision to align with the BJP, which attacked the Christian community even during this Christmas season, would be strongly opposed by those who believed in secularism, Mr. Sathish said.
