Andhra Pradesh is all set to launch a State-wide agricultural mobilisation effort — Rythanna Meekosam Workshops — across all the 8,451 Rythu Seva Kendras (RSKs) on December 3.

The Department of Agriculture has announced that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will participate in the workshop at the RSK at Nallajerla village in East Godavari district.

Director of Agriculture Manazir Jeelani Samoon, on Tuesday, said the discussions would centre around identifying the major crops cultivated in each RSK area, evolving scientific methods to increase yield, assessing region-specific agro-climatic and water resource conditions, and strengthening access to market support systems.

Key Performance Indicators for boosting productivity and increasing farmers’ gross income would be collectively identified by farmers and officials.

Dr. Samoon said the workshops would emphasise the need for changes in cropping patterns, adoption of modern agricultural practices, and improvements in water management. Season-wise action plans would be framed based on actual cultivation area, yield data, and production estimates.

A portion of land would be earmarked for natural farming to minimise chemical fertilizer usage, while farmers would be encouraged to use soil-test-based fertilizer application and organic manures such as FYM and compost. Action plans for allied sectors such as horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries would also be prepared.

Dr. Samoon urged farmers to participate actively in the workshops and share their practical experiences and needs, reiterating that the government was moving forward with a five-point strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector and ensure comprehensive support to every farmer in the State.
