Venkatagiri residents push to rejoin Nellore district amid reorganisation concerns

Minister for Endowments Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, who previously represented Venkatagiri constituency, urged the State government on Friday (26 December, 2025) to retain Rapur, Kaluvoy and Saidapuram mandals in Nellore district, citing administrative convenience and the need to respect public sentiment.

On the final day of submitting objections to the proposed reorganisation exercise, Mr. Reddy received representations from the residents of the three mandals, who cited proximity to Nellore as the reason. Mr. Ramanarayana Reddy not only wanted the mandals to be merged in Nellore district, but also wanted their inclusion in Atmakur revenue division for easy administration.

It may be noted that after the Venkatagiri, Sullurpet, and Gudur constituencies of Sri Potti Sri Ramulu (SPSR) Nellore district were appended to the adjoining Tirupati district during the District Reorganisation Exercise in 2021, parts of Gudur and Venkatagiri openly expressed their willingness to remain with Nellore district.

Even as Gudur is witnessing the slogans “Tirupati Vaddhu, Nellore Muddu,” parts of the Venkatagiri constituency have also expressed their opinions recently.

Meanwhile, the Minister felicitated MLC Beeda Ravichandra on his election as the TDP’s Nellore district president and also congratulated district general secretary Chejerla Venkateswara Reddy and Nellore Mayor Roop Kumar Yadav.
