Human rights activist Raymant Antony has alleged double standards in the State’s legal system. He pointed out that while his email complaint was rejected by the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) for lack of a signature, another email complaint from a woman abroad was accepted by the Police department despite lacking a signature.

A complaint by Mr. Antony to the SHRC, seeking intervention and action against those responsible for the amputation of a nine-year-old girl’s hand at Government District Hospital, Palakkad, was rejected by Commission Chairperson Alexander Thomas, who cited the lack of a signature as the reason.

“But the State Home department was apparently overzealous in accepting and acting on an email complaint against Rahul Mamkootathil, MLA, from a woman in Canada, despite the absence of any signature. If this is not double standards, then what is,” Mr. Antony asked.
