Police said the couple’s son attacked them with a knife following a domestic dispute.

Police said the couple’s son attacked them with a knife following a domestic dispute.

A retired Navy Captain and his dentist wife were stabbed to death allegedly by their son at their residence in east Bengaluru on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred around 7.30 a.m. in Adarsha Vista Apartments, Vignan Nagar, under the HAL Police Station limits. The deceased have been identified as Naveen Chandra Bhat, 60, a retired Navy Captain, and his wife Shyamala Bhat, 55, a dental surgeon.

According to police, the couple’s son, Rohan Chandra Bhat, 33, a software engineer allegedly attacked both his parents with a knife following a domestic dispute. The injured couple were rushed to Manipal Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared them dead around 8.15 a.m.

Based on the complaint lodged by Madhavi Nair, a resident of Adarsha Vista Apartments and a doctor at Manipal Hospital, the HAL Police have registered a murder case against Rohan.

The accused has been arrested and will be produced before the jurisdictional court. The exact motive behind the double murder is yet to be ascertained.

The bodies have been kept at the mortuary of Bowring Hospital. Police said the post-mortem examination will be conducted after the couple’s daughter, who is travelling from the U.S., arrives in the city.
