Telangana Government is apparently faced with a challenge in retaining youth employed in the IT sector in Tier-II and III cities to work in the same locations.

According to Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, ensuring the companies working in IT towers set up in Nizamabad, Sangareddy and other Tier-II cities has become a daunting task. “Youth employed in these IT towers are preferring to work in Hyderabad once they are adequately trained. It has become challenging task to retain them in their work places,” he said.

The companies on their part too were shifting their base owing to rapid changes in technologies. “We are at a different turn as far as technological evolution is concerned. Artificial Intelligence is playing a pivotal role in the functioning of the companies,” he said responding to BRS member T. Harish Rao’s concern that of the 18 companies that started operations in Siddipet IT tower, seven remained and the remaining 11 shifted base. The situation was no different in Nizamabad IT tower where only 276 of the 681 personnel were working.

Ever since the advent of AI, companies are reskilling and upskilling their staff to meet the emerging requirements. “It is a basic challenge to retain the companies,” he said.
