A 15-year-old boy on Saturday reportedly caused a series of accidents on Vypeen-Munambam road by driving a car recklessly, putting public safety at risk.

An elderly woman was injured as the car hit her at Edavanakad. The Njarackal police intercepted the car at Njarackal after it reportedly hit several vehicles as it passed by Edavanakad, Cherayi, and Njarackal.

The Njarackal police booked the boy’s father over the incident and seized the vehicle.

CCTV visuals showed the boy struggling to control the vehicle posing risk to other motorists and pedestrians. There were reportedly three minors on board the car.

The boy’s father, a 55-year-old resident of Kaloor, has been charged under Sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 125 (acts of rashness or negligence that endanger human life or personal safety) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita as well as various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
