The United States captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and took him out of the country on Saturday (January 3, 2026) after an extraordinary nighttime operation that was accompanied by a flurry of strikes following months of escalating pressure on the oil-rich South American nation.

Commenting on the U.S. military strikes on Venezuela, the Ministry of External Affairs, on Sunday (January 4, 2026) said, “Recent developments in Venezuela are a matter of deep concern. We are closely monitoring the evolving situation.”
