Parts of Kurnool and Nandyal districts received significant amounts of rainfall on Saturday night, disrupting vehicle movement between villages, causing waterlogging in residential areas, and leading to inundation at some places.
Officials said that Kosigi mandal in Kurnool district recorded the highest rainfall at 100.60 mm, followed by Aluru mandal at 95.20 mm. Bethamcherla in Nandyal district received highest at 77.20 mm, while Dhone recorded 57 mm.
According to sources, rainwater entered houses in several colonies of Pedakaduburu village due to lack of proper drainage systems and CC roads. Locals, who alleged that this kind of situation arises every time it rains despite repeated complaints to the officials, complained that rice stocks, food grains, clothes, and household articles were damaged.
Meanwhile, the traffic between Halaharvi and Gulyam villages came to a halt as rainwater flowed over the road at Cheruvanka. Similarly in Yemmiganur mandal, Kappala Vanka stream overflowed at Kadivella village, causing disruption to traffic between Yemmiganur and Pathikonda.
In Gonegandla mandal, Mallela Vagu stream near Ganjahalli village overflowed as it received inflows from upstream areas.
In Anantapur district, nine mandals received moderate to heavy showers. Tanks, canals, streams and local water bodies received inflows while roads were inundated in some urban areas. Anantapur, Hindupur, Puttaparthi, Tadipatri and Dharmavaram towns also received good rainfall, affecting traffic movement.
