Rahul Gandhi, who completed two years as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said that he would continue to carry the voice of the people to the corridors of power and fight for issues.

In a post on social media platform X, accompanied by a three-and-a-half-minute video of his speeches and interventions over the past two years, Mr. Gandhi said he had devoted every day since assuming office to representing the concerns of ordinary Indians.

“Today marks two years since I became the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Every single day of these two years has been dedicated to one task – to carry the voice of every Indian to the corridors of power,” he said.

“Whether it’s the fight for NEET aspirants, exposing electoral fraud, or defending the Constitution, I have stood with you on every front. I stand with you today, and I always will,” he said.

Mr. Gandhi said the trust reposed in him by the people, “from the streets to Parliament”, remained his greatest strength.

“The journey is long, but my resolve remains the same – I will keep fighting every battle for you. Jai Hind. Jai Constitution,” he said.

Later in the day, Mr. Gandhi also took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Mr. Modi the wished Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on his birthday and praised his efforts in implementing the National Education Policy.

Replying to a post on X by Congress media and publicity wing head Pawan Khera, in which he put out the names of the students who died by suicide over the NEET paper leak, Mr. Gandhi said each name on this list was a child whose dream, family and the future were destroyed by “a broken system and a government that refuses to learn or take accountability”.

“When PM Modi praised Dharmendra Pradhan ji on his birthday, did he even spare a thought for these children?” he said.

Mr. Gandhi, a five-term Member of Parliament representing Rae Bareli, was appointed Leader of the Opposition in June 2024, after the Congress emerged as the single largest Opposition party in the Lok Sabha.
