Rachakonda She Teams have intensified their crackdown on harassment and stalking cases, catching 171 offenders in just 15 days. Commissioner of Police G. Sudheer Babu said the police are committed to ensuring that those who trouble women will face consequences.

The She Teams, part of the Rachakonda Women Safety Wing, conducted decoy operations in mufti across bus stands, railway and metro stations, colleges, markets and other public areas. Offenders caught harassing women or girls were detained with video evidence, produced in court and counselled in the presence of their parents.

Between October 1 and 15, 194 complaints were received, out of which 40 involved phone harassment, 74 were related to social media abuse, and 80 were incidents of direct harassment. Of the total, eight were booked under criminal charges, 81 under petty cases and 88 individuals were counselled, said DCP T. Usharani, who heads the Women Safety Wing.

Among the cases handled, She Teams arrested a man who sexually assaulted his niece, a minor girl, at his home in Hyderabad while she was there for EAMCET counselling. Following the victim’s complaint, a criminal case was registered and the accused taken into custody.

In another case, two men were booked for making false accusations, abusing and harassing a woman online after assaulting her daughter during a quarrel in July 2025. Based on the victim’s complaint, She Teams intervened and the accused were arrested.

In a separate incident, a man who lured a woman under the pretext of teaching her software skills and later sexually assaulted her was arrested after the victim approached She Teams.

Apart from enforcement, She Teams organised 79 awareness programmes during the first half of October, reaching over 13,500 people with information about women’s rights, legal protections and safety measures. The teams also conducted decoy checks in metro trains and caught seven men travelling in the women’s compartment. The offenders were fined by metro officials.
